Cycling for Children bike ride this Saturday
Voices for CASA, the fundraising arm of CASA for Kids, is teaming up with Great Northern Cycles for its second annual Cycling for Children bike ride.
The fundraiser ride takes place July 27 around Whitefish. Riders can choose from a 40, 80 or 100 mile rides.
Voices for CASA provides funding to help recruit and train volunteers to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates. These volunteers advocate for abused and neglected children in the legal/social court system.
The ride begins at the Whitefish Saddle Club (next to Alpine Market on Wisconsin Ave.) and continues down the foothills of the swan range. Riders in 100-mile will extend the ride by biking out to the end of Whitefish Lake.
Voices for CASA has a goal of raising $17,000 this year. Currently there are 17 abused and/or neglected children in the valley that are not represent by a CASA volunteer. The funds raised will pay the annual cost to train and support more CASA volunteers.
Besides participating in the ride, folks can purchase a raffle ticket to win a bike donated by Great Northern Cycles and many other gifts from local businesses. Raffle tickets are $10 each or three for $25.
The cost of the 40-mile ride is $50, the 80- and 100-mile rides are $60. To learn more and register for the ride, visit www.casaride.wordpress.com.
