Prize winner

James Ask, of Kalispell, claimed a $50,000 top prize for the Casino Nights Scratch game on June 3 with a ticket he purchased from Smith’s Food & Drug in Columbia Falls. This win was “sheer luck” for Ask, who said he plays Scratch games whenever he gets an itch to scratch, and that this win came “out of nowhere.” The Casino Nights game debuted April 22 with prizes up to $50,000.

Senior sale

The North Valley Senior Center, 205 Nucleus Avenue, in Columbia Falls, will hold their annual garage sale on Friday and Saturday, June 14-15, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is a fundraiser for the senior center. For more information, call 892-4087.

County zoning

The Flathead County Planning Board plans to review the county’s zoning regulations in fiscal year 2014. The update is expected to be less than a full re-write. The board will begin with a workshop to discuss the overall project, including priorities and goals, and lay out a process to follow. The workshop will be held in the Earl Bennett Building, First Avenue West, in Kalispell on Wednesday, June 12, at 6 p.m. Staff member Erik Mack will administer the project for the board. Bible school

The First Baptist Church in Columbia Falls will offer their annual Vacation Bible School on June 10 to 14 from 9 a.m. to noon for children from three years old to sixth grade. For more information, contact the church at 892-3729.

Kids quilt class

The Teakettle Quilters Guild will offer a quilt class for kids 10 through 14 years old in the Columbia Falls High School home economics rooms on Monday through Thursday, June 10-13. A lap size quilt will be completed by each youth. All fabric, supplies and supervision will be provided by Teakettle Quilters Guild. Lighthouse sale

The Lighthouse Christian Home, 384 North Somers Road, in Kalispell, will hold its annual fundraising garage sale on Friday and Saturday, June 14-15, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The home is a 40-acre farm and residence for adults with intellectual disabilities.
