A camper trailer parked behind a home in Columbia Falls was gutted by an early morning fire June 11.

The fire broke out about 4 a.m. on Columbia Drive and was likely caused by a candle that came in contact with combustible material.

A person sleeping in the camper at the time discovered the fire and escaped unharmed, Columbia Falls fire chief Rick Hagen said.

Firefighters were on the scene in 11 minutes, Hagen said, but the 2003 camper trailer was destroyed in the blaze. Almost everything in a camper burns, he noted.
