Police calls: Canadian left naked, shoeless and beat up

Monday, June 10

10:09 a.m. A black bear was spotted on Wisconsin Avenue.

8:16 p.m. A woman on Baker Avenue reported that her male friend stole her vehicle. The woman’s caretaker asked police if he was allowed to borrow a vehicle, drive as fast as he could to catch up with the suspect, then run him off the road and make a citizen’s arrest. He was advised against that plan. Highway patrol later spotted the suspect in Big Arm.

Tuesday, June 11

12:56 a.m. A woman said she was sleeping in her car on Central Avenue when a man reached through the window and took her keys. Turns out it was the Ride Guy who took the keys and set them on her seat because he thought the woman was too drunk to drive.

2:15 a.m. Campers at Whitefish Lake State Park heard a bear snarl near the food safe bin.

6:06 p.m. Report of teens drinking, smoking and cursing at City Beach.

Wednesday, June 12

1:14 a.m. Report of a man trying to get a woman to do something she didn’t want to do. The woman was going to stay at the police station until the morning then get on a train out of town.

Thursday, June 13

6:29 a.m. Police at a truck stop in Rocker picked up two juvenile boys from Whitefish.

10:11 a.m. A bookkeeping business had their email account hacked into.

Friday, June 14

2:27 a.m. A clerk at a store was creeped out by a man wondering if they had NyQuil.

2:41 a.m. A man attempted to skip out on paying his $7.50 taxi fare.

11:22 a.m. A truck parked on Skyles Place slipped out of gear and landed on the roof of an apartment.

8:53 p.m. A group of Canadian men on East 1st Street were drinking and having a loud and inappropriate conversation.

Saturday, June 15

12:12 a.m. A man was arrested on Central Avenue for public urination and resisting arrest. Another man was arrested for obstructing.

1:57 a.m. Report of a naked man with no shoes who was being belligerent on East 1st Street. He said there was a fight and that he got beat up, but police didn’t do anything about it.

2:58 a.m. A silver Subaru reportedly hit a post near the dog park then drove off. The car had extensive front-end damage, broken windows and a flat tire.

10:49 a.m. A woman locked herself and her child in a car following a verbal disagreement over a parenting plan.

2:21 p.m. Report of a posse member driving by and staring at a woman in a menacing way.

3:23 p.m. Partiers left broken glass in the middle of East 1st Street. A resident was concerned about sending her children out to play.

5:25 p.m. A suspicious group pushing a shopping cart was reported on Park Avenue. They were painting house numbers on the curb as a fundraiser.

8:12 p.m. Loud and obnoxious Canadians on East 1st Street were talking loudly about sexual matters.

10:54 p.m. Neighbors were being loud and rude and one man was urinating on the front lawn at a house party on Pine Avenue. They became upset when the police were called.

Sunday, June 16

2:14 a.m. Party-goers around a bonfire on West 2nd Street were being loud.

2:16 a.m. An intoxicated man entered another person’s home on Kalispell Avenue thinking it was his. He left his shoes there.

8:58 a.m. A purse was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Dakota Avenue.

12:38 p.m. A camera and wallet were stolen from a locked vehicle on Colorado Avenue.
