Medicaid expansion is a good idea
As a former public school trustee, I learned what it means to work within a budget that is dictated by the legislature. I also learned the process of seeking out other monies that are available through grants and other programs. I learned to recognize a good deal when I see it. Medicaid expansion is a good deal for Montana.
What many people don’t know is that Medicaid expansion is paid for. Montanans and providers have been paying for expansion since 2008 through taxes and fees. Plus, the federal government has established multiple funding sources to cover the cost of Medicaid expansion. Providing health care to uninsured Montanans could actually save Montana money.
This is a huge opportunity to provide 60,000 uninsured Montanans with affordable health care. I’m sick and tired of seeing my neighbors, friends and family choosing between seeing the doctor or paying other bills. The money is there, and we need to stand together and support Medicaid expansion.
