Perhaps it may seem humorous to learn Columbia Falls Grade School staff and students were excited to raise funds so a duplicating machine, projector, screen, slides and films could be purchased back in 1948. Not only that, a typewriter, large dictionaries, records, film strips and slides were forthcoming.
It was a special occasion when principal Ralph Magnuson demonstrated the new 35 mm projector and purchases during a PTA meeting. They were grateful the screen with glass beading was collapsible and had a convenient carrying case.
Two phonographs to be purchased with the student fund were on order for the grade school. Records, film strips and slides would also be ordered.
The school’s one large dictionary was borrowed from Mrs. Charlie Ritter the preceding month. A typewriter for the school was purchased by the district. Two large dictionaries and more textbooks were on order.
Permanent health records and questionnaires were being compiled for first through twelfth graders. Dental records will also be on file.
