Bet Harim to host Passover Seder

Bet Harim will celebrate Passover on March 25 at the Multi-Faith Center at Shining Mountains Center, 475 Eighth Ave. EN, in Kalispell.

The doors will open at 5 p.m. and Seder will begin at 5:30 p.m.

A special Haggadah has been written for the occasion to make it interesting for children and adults.

Straw Bale Gardening with ESP

Mary Laud will lead the Essential Stuff Project’s session on container and straw bale gardening at Clementine’s in Bigfork on March 20 at 7 p.m.

Laud is an avid container organic gardener who is creative with her choice of containers and how she augments the fertility of the soil. She will bring examples of containers, primarily repurposed objects which may include: bags, gutters, shoes, old dresser drawers, straw bales and more.

Following her presentation, there will be a group discussion to lay out rules and categories for ESP’s first annual container gardening competition.

Creston Auction

The 47th annual Creston Auction and Country Fair will be held on April 6-7 in Creston, 12 miles east of Kalispell on Montana 35.

Consignments will be accepted on Friday, April 5, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Grounds will open at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, with an opening ceremony at 9 a.m. Auctions will last all day.

Then on Sunday, April 7, the auto, marine, RV and equipment auction starts 9 a.m.

Pachyderm Club

The Glacier Pachyderm Club will meet on March 15 and 22 at the Hilton Garden Inn on the south end of Kalispell from noon to 1 p.m.

On March 15, Joe Russell, Flathead County Public Health Officer, will discuss the issues facing the county that are or could become public health concerns.

Duncan Scott will speak about the on-going “donut” debate facing Whitefish and the county as well as right to work issues on March 22.

Friendship Force

Friendship Force of the Flathead Valley will meet on March 21 at Vista Linda. Social hour will begin at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m.

Lisa Poler will give a presentation on her recent trip to Brussels and Antwerp, Belgium. All interested in travel and meeting people from other countries are invited.

Chili Feed

The Bigfork Rotary Club’s annual chili feed fundraiser and bicycle raffle to extend the Swan River bike path from Bigfork to Swan River School will be held at The Garden Bar on March 15 from 5-7 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person and $25 for families of two adults and two children under 10 years old.

All proceeds go toward constructing the bike path. Tickets are available at Nancy O’s and The Jug Tree or from local Rotarians.

Wildfire Speaker

Rick Trembath will give a speech about wildfire safety at the Bigfork Emergency Response Team’s free monthly meeting at Bigfork Middle School on March 21 from 7-8 p.m.

Trembath, past Bigfork fire chief, will give a presentation related to the risk of wildfire to homes in the greater Bigfork area. This comes as a result of working for the Bigfork Fire District on implementing a grant for private property owner wildfire risk reduction.

Relay for Life Kickoff

The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life kick-off will be at the Fairgrounds in Kalispell on March 23 from 4-7 p.m. This is the ACS’s 100th year, and Relay is “dreaming big, hoping big, and relaying big.”

The evening includes a spaghetti dinner, Monte Carlo poker, and live auction. Bingo and kids activities will also be held. Tickets can be purchased from Relay team members, $10 for an individual or $25 for families.

All funds raised go toward Relay for Life. For more information, call Rikki at 728-1004.

Anthony Kuechmann Family Benefit

A fundraiser for the Kuechmann family will be held at the Tall Pine Lounge on March 24 from 1-5 p.m.

Anthony Kuechmann was diagnosed with stage-four brain cancer four years ago and all funds raised will go toward helping the Kuechmann family.

The fundraiser will include raffle prizes, door prizes, and a silent auction. There will also be activities for kids such as face painting, Easter crafts and making cards to send to children in cancer hospitals. A free dinner will be provided and donations will be accepted.
