Flathead Lake Brewing Co. design revealed

The plans are done, the tanks are being made, and the building is starting to be transformed.

The clock is starting to tick down as the much anticipated move of the Flathead Lake Brewing Co. to their new home at the old bowling alley on Holt Drive in Bigfork begins.

The plans of the building’s owners, Sandy Clare and Elvira Johnston, are to have the building ready for move in by mid-summer.

The goal of Flathead Lake Brewing Co. owner Greg Johnston is to have the beer brewed out of the new facility ready for distribution by this fall.

The tanks, custom made by the W.M. Sprinkman Corporation out of Wisconsin, will be arriving in June.

Johnston is also buying a state of the art canning line that will allow the brewery to can both 12-oz and 16-oz cans alongside their bottling machine that is already producing 22-oz “Bomber Bottles,” which are currently available in stores.

This means more FLBC beer in more locations throughout Montana and the opportunity for head brewer, Tim Jacoby, to play with some new styles and flavors.

In addition, the Flathead Lake Brewing Co. Pub House (restaurant), owned by Sandy Clare, is slated to open next spring.

The restaurant will feature Flathead Lake Brewing Co. beers as well as other great craft brews from around Montana.

There will be an outside fireplace to cozy up to in the fall, as well as TVs — inside and out — for watching the big games. More details will come on the entrées being created by head chef, DeAnna McCann, and events that will be held at the new location as the clock ticks down.

The building is going to be LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified. LEED is a voluntary, consensus-based, market-driven program that provides third-party verification of green buildings for sustainability.

LEED addresses the entire lifecycle of a building and provides building owners and operators the tools they need to immediately impact their building’s performance and bottom line, while providing healthy indoor spaces for a building’s occupants.

Flathead Lake Brewing Co. hopes to put Montana on the map by becoming the second GOLD LEED certified production brewery in the U.S.

The company is working with Bigfork Water Department to recycle the plant’s water for the building’s heating and cooling system.

Located in Woods Bay, the Flathead Lake Brewing Co.’s beer is hand brewed and bottled and Montana-grown grain is used whenever possible.
