Whitefish School District voters Tuesday approved a levy request and elected Ruth Harrison and Nick Polumbus to the school board.

The high school district levy passed with 845 votes in favor and 644 against, according to the district.

In the trustee election, incumbent Harrison faced off against newcomers Polumbus and Karla West for two trustee positions. Polumbus earned the most votes with 833 and  Harrison retained her seat getting 812 votes. West earned 751 votes.

The school district was seeking approval of the $36,000 operations levy to assist with a predicted tight budget. The levy increase is expected to increase taxes on a $100,000 market value home by 93 cents, and on a $200,000 home the increase would be $1.85 annually.

Voter turnout was 13.55 percent with 1,410 ballots cast in the election.
