The Montana Department of Transportation is seeking comments for a proposed highway project at the intersection of U.S. 2 and Highway 40 tentatively planned for 2015. The purpose is to address intersection safety concerns and improve operational efficiency.

Proposed lane and traffic signal control modifications include providing dual westbound left-turn lanes; modifying the traffic signal control for the dual westbound left-turn lanes; removing the eastbound right-turn only lane and channelized island; modifying the northbound approach to provide one exclusive left-turn lane and one exclusive through lane; and extending westbound two-lane section about 2,000 feet to the west.

For more information, contact Missoula District Administrator Ed Toavs at 406-523-5802 or consultant project engineer Fred Bente at 406-444-7634. Written comments can be sent to the Montana Department of Transportation, P.O. Box 7039, Missoula MT 59807-7039, or online at www.mdt.mt.gov/mdt/comment_form.shtml.
