Senior Showcase event marks Rapids program's progress
The Flathead Rapids Soccer Club capped the end of a successful season with the third annual Senior Showcase game played in near-freezing temperatures on Nov. 10.
The game highlighted standout senior soccer players from around the Flathead Valley and gave college scouts a venue to recruit players.
Wildkats Alexi Corbett and sisters Emily and Halee Perkins played in the girls game. Wildcats Logan Carr, Chase Ramberg and Casey Burghduff represented boys competition.
The Rapids, led and founded by Columbia Falls graduate O’Brien Byrd, took over the Columbia Falls Youth Soccer programs this year. Their fall program grew to 265 players in the recreational league and 96 players in their academy program.
To bring continued focus and growth to the Columbia Falls soccer program, the Rapids appointed Columbia Falls residents Peter Erickson and Wakefield Troy to their executive board to help launch the 2014 season.
The Flathead Rapids, a non-profit organization, is run by local volunteers dedicated to increasing awareness of soccer in the Flathead and nurturing the talent of soccer players in North Valley. For more information about the current programs, visit online at www.flatheadrapids.com.
