| October 23, 2013 11:00 PM

George Marion Colvill passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Oct. 19 due to natural causes after a rewarding life of 85 years.

Born in Columbus, Ohio, on Dec. 21, 1927, George was the son of Irene and Marion Colvill. George grew up in Dallas and Mount Lebanon, Penn.

After graduating from Mount Lebanon High School he attended college at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering. At MIT he served as president and 50-year loyal member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and was a member of the rowing crew.

At that time he met his wife Jacqueline “Jake” Marie Donohue who attended Boston University. Jake was a loyal wife and partner and they brought out the best in each other. They were married in Elkton, Md., on July 20, 1951 and enjoyed 63 wonderful years together.

George served for two years in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1948. He and his family were always very proud of his military service.

George worked in Pittsburgh and Cincinnati for many years before being transferred to Houston in 1968 where he and Jake raised their family. He spent most of his career working in Houston where he was owner of Lubrication Systems and Colvill Industrial Sales having worked hard to grow a very successful business. He was always thankful to the many loyal employees at Lubrication Systems for their dedication to the company where he enjoyed many strong friendships.

George loved to golf, sail, fish, snow ski, and travel and he passed these great hobbies on to his children. He will always be remembered for forcing his family to watch his photo slide shows of family trips/events and of his many business trips to Europe and Asia.

After retirement, George and Jake lived in Rockport, Texas, for many years, before moving to Whitefish. George loved the outdoors and he and Jake developed many strong friendships in Rockport and Whitefish for which they are very grateful.

Jake and George ultimately settled in The Woodlands, Texas, where he enjoyed his final days playing golf and making many new friends.

George is preceded in death by his mother, Irene; his father, Marion; and his stepmother, Dodie.

He is survived by his wife, Jake Colvill; brother, Chris Colvill and his wife Mary Beth; three children, Tracy, Sydney, Chip and Chip’s wife Vivian; and his grandchildren, Cameron, Kayla, Claire and Clay.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 2425 Fountainview, Suite 280, Houston, Texas 77057, or to any charity of choice.
