Baker road work to run through mid-November
The Montana Department of Transportation is resurfacing the street and replacing sidewalks, according to Whitefish city manager Chuck Stearns.
Work on the street is taking place on Baker from the East First Street intersection north to Edgewood Place. The traffic signal at Edgewood will also be replaced.
Pedestrian bulbouts, similar to those already around downtown, will be installed on the northern side of the Baker and First intersection. The driveways for the VFW and Markus Foods/33 Baker Salon will be narrowed.
“The intersection should be improved to help people cross the street,†Stearns said.
The work is expected to run through mid-November.
