Thanks to those who support county animal shelter

The front page article in the Sept. 4 Pilot regarding the changes at Flathead County Animal Shelter was most heart warming and I have enjoyed hearing from a number of previous staff members who are thrilled to see the changes. The bad old days were very tough for so many of us.

It has taken a team to turn this ship around and some acknowledgments are definitely due.

The Flathead City/County Health Department, their board of directors and health officer, Joe Russell who put the shelter under their umbrella; the county commissioners and administration for their support; the Flathead Spay & Neuter Task Force — what an amazing group; Flathead Shelter Friends whose fundraising and adoption support is key to the shelter’s success; all our volunteers and rescue groups who help re-home our animals; and last but definitely not least, the shelter director and staff whose dedication and hard work inspires us all.

What a pleasure it is to work with so many amazing people to deliver such a progressive animal shelter to our community whose support is constantly cheering us on. We have almost reached our fundraising goal to make the positive changes to the kennels and are so grateful to our donors and once again, I am humbled by the generosity of this community.
