The Columbia Falls Lions Club will hold a pancake breakfast at the North Valley Senior Center on Nucleus Avenue on Saturday, April 12, from 7 a.m.
History club
The Columbia Falls Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting at the old chapel building at the Montana Veterans Home, in Columbia Falls, on Tuesday, April 15, at 7 p.m.
Quilt show
The Teakettle Quilt Guild of Columbia Falls will hold their annual quilt show at Glacier Gateway School, 440 Fourth Avenue West, in Columbia Falls, on Saturday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with vendors, demonstrations, boutique and raffles. The featured quilter will be Janet Masten. Admission is free, but non-perishable donations for the Columbia Falls Food Bank will be appreciated.
Senior fundraiser
The North Valley Senior Center will hold its annual book and puzzle sale on Friday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The money raised at the sale will be used to help put a new roof on the center on Nucleus Avenue in Columbia Falls.
Pruning class
The Farming For The Future Academy will offer a free fruit tree pruning class at their site at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls on Saturday, April 19, from 1-3 p.m. Pruning instructor Barton Morse, from the Flathead Valley Community College, will lead the class. Toastmasters
The Columbia Falls Speaks Toastmasters Club is sponsoring a Speech Craft Workshop at Freedom Bank in Columbia Falls from Tuesday, April 15, through Tuesday, May 20, from 12:10 to 1 p.m. Cost is $25.
Women connect
The Columbia Falls Women’s Connection, affiliated with Stonecroft Ministries, will host a talk by Diane Koch on “Reinventing Healthcare” at the Teakettle Community Hall, 235 Nucleus Avenue, in Columbia Falls, on Wednesday, April 16, at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $8 for the lunch and program. Secularist talk
Ronald Lindsay, president and chief executive officer of the Center for Inquiry, will present a free talk about “The Necessity of Secularism” at the Museum at Central School, 124 Second Avenue East, in Kalispell, on Tuesday, April 22, at 7 p.m. With increasing numbers of non-believers, will the doctrine of separation of church and state alone ensure the rights of people of all ideological persuasions and belief systems? The talk is being sponsored by the Flathead Area Secular Humanist Association.
Easter eggs
The North Valley Eagles Club will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt at Marantette Park in Columbia Falls on Saturday, April 19, from noon to 1:30 p.m. for children up to 12 years old. The Easter Bunny will make an appearance this year. The club has sponsored an Easter egg hunt for about 10 years and typically set out about 90 dozen real eggs with numbers tied to prizes.
Film premiere
The Hockaday Museum of Art will host the Flathead Valley premiere of the Montana-made film “Winter in the Blood” at the Bigfork Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, April 18, and at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish on Saturday, April 19. The film is based on the first of five novels written by James Welch, a Native American poet, author, documentary scriptwriter and historical essayist. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with a wine, beer and appetizer reception in the lobby. A question and answer session will follow the film at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available online purchase at www.hockadaymuseum.org or by calling 406-755-5268 and at Freedom Bank in Columbia Falls. Proceeds will benefit the Hockaday Museum.
Cemetery board
The Flathead County Commissioners are seeking a volunteer to serve on the Columbia Falls Cemetery Board. Members must reside in the Columbia Falls Cemetery District and are granted the power and duties to maintain the cemetery district. The volunteer would fill one vacated seat through Dec. 31, 2016. Barbershop quartet
The Great Pretenders, the male vocal quartet of the Glacier Symphony and Chorale, will perform “The Power of Song” at the Museum at Central School, 124 Second Avenue East, in Kalispell, on Friday, April 11, and Saturday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m. This marks the first time the group has organized a full-length concert. Doors will open at 7 p.m. for socializing and a no-host wine bar. Seating is limited. Tickets are $15 adults and $12 seniors available at the GSC box office, 407-7000, 69 North Main Street, in Kalispell or online at www.gscmusic.org.
Book sale
The American Association of University Women is now accepting good quality used books for the upcoming used book sale at the Kalispell Center Mall on April 11-13.
