All tournament basketball
Columbia Falls basketball players Jared Trinastich and Ty Morgan were recently named to the state Class A all-tournament team. Trinastich was named most valuable player of the March 6-8 tournament, where the Wildcats won the state title. Morgan and Trinastich also recently were recently chosen to play on the boys all-star team for the Hi-Line Invitational tournament. The Class A all-stars beat the Class AA all-stars 107-96 in the championship. Morgan averaged 15 points per game. Trinastich averaged 17 points per game and was named to the all-tournament team.
DeWit honored
Former Wildkat basketball standout Kayla DeWit was named the most improved player on the Montana State University women’s basketball team. A junior at MSU, DeWit was one of the Bobcats’ top reserve players this past season, averaging 5.9 points and 4 rebounds per game.
Karate class
The American Karate Academy will host a free crime survival workshop for high school senior girls from Whitefish and Columbia Falls on Friday, April 25, from 6 to 9 p.m. Topics and drills include awareness, mind-setting, dealing with adrenaline rushes, rape, abduction, using the environment, using natural weapons such as a car, parking lot crimes, home intrusion and more. The workshop will focus on practical self-defense. Attendance is limited to 30. To register, call 862-7722.
