Native American flute lessons at Museum of Art and History

Troy Good Medicine De Roche will conduct a two hour workshop on Native American flutes on Wednesday,  Aug. 13, from 5-7 p.m. at the Bigfork Museum of Art and History.

If you are a beginning native flute player or just interested in the flute, this workshop is perfect for you. Whether you own a flute or not you can still attend. The workshop will cover the basics of playing a Native American flute, including scales, fingering and special techniques. How to care for your flute, what to look for when buying a flute and a bit of the history will also be discussed.

De Roche is an enrolled member of the Blackfeet Nation. Preserving tradition is an important part of De Roche’s life; expressing traditional values and the spiritual nature of Native American people through music is his goal. An in-demand performer at shows, festivals, workshops and exhibitions across the country, he has carried the gift of his music worldwide.

De Roche is recognized as one of the few authentic Native American Flute makers; each De Roche flute being an original handcrafted piece of art, not production line nor lather turned. De Roche has been called "the epitome of pure beauty in sound."
