An act of God

On the morning of Nov. 29 at the Montana Veterans Home, a large tree split in in half and fell on my daughter’s car and caused $1,523 in damages. My daughter (Lauralee Selders) has worked at the Veterans Home off and on for 11 years.

After contacting Montana state’s insurance company, she was informed that they don’t cover what they consider an act of God unless she could prove the tree was in bad shape and should have been removed. With no help from the insurance company or the administrators that run this facility, she was left to repair her car herself.

But wait, the story doesn’t stop here. Lauralee’s co-workers started a fund to help with repairs. You know, those people that really don’t have it to give but find it in their hearts to help. Thank God for them. That’s what I consider an act of God.

Beware where you park on property owned by the state of Montana and insured by their own insurance company because you could get left holding a repair bill.

Did I hear right that they’re getting money to replace the tree? Sincerely one mad father and taxpayer.
