Students excel in drama at two-day meet
The Bigfork High School Speech, Debate and Drama team came back from a two-day meet in Corvallis with a first place in drama.
Nineteen students competed at the meet, which included schools from all classes. For four of the students who placed, it was the first meet they had attended this year.
Mack Paine, Alex Moore and Rosalie Lander performed for the first time this year and Kenzie Meyer performed for the first time ever. All placed in drama.
Paine took third in humorous solo and Meyer was sixth in the same event. Alex Moore and Rosalie Lander placed sixth in humorous duo.
While none of the Bigfork competitors placed in speech, coach Charlie Appleby said it was still a good meet for the speech competitors. Ryan Saw and Shannon Frizzell made the semifinals in their events. Bigfork was also close in expository speaking, original oratory and serious and humors interpretation of literature.
Appleby said he was very pleased with their performance.
“We have a ways to go before we are ready for divsionals but I think we are on our way,” he said.
The team will compete in Kalispell this weekend.
