Edward Damm

Edward “Ed” Damm, 82, of Kalispell, passed away Dec. 21, 2014, at the Whitefish Care and Rehabilitation Center, in Whitefish.

Ed was born on April 4, 1932, in Culbertson, the son of Peter and Katherine (Korb) Damm. He was raised and educated in Culbertson, where he met his wife Harriett M. (Almond) Damm. In Ed’s final years, he resided with his current companion, Illa Rassmussen.

Ed was in the Army from 1953 to 1955. Upon his discharge, he worked in the Wyoming oil rigs. He and his family settled down in Thermopolis, Wyo. and then moved to Kalispell in 1966.

He was employed at the Columbia Falls Aluminum Company and then owned his own water well drilling business until his retirement. Ed also worked in Dutch Harbor, Alaska, processing seafood at one of the local canneries.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Katherine (Korb) Damm; brothers, John Emmanuel, Henry and Fritz; and sisters, Carolyn, Charlotte and Mary Stewart.

He is survived by his seven children, Lois Peterson and husband Mel, of Martin City, Marilyn Hall and husband Tracy, of Hamilton, Sandra Judd, of Battleground, Wash., Edna Collins, of St. Cloud, Fla., Edward Damm and wife Kathy, of Phelan, Calif., Lorna Borgen, of Peyton, Colo., and Eugene Damm, of Ararat, N.C.; 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and nieces Evelyn Bjorness and husband John, of Dickinson, N.D., and Linda Korb and Nancy Korb, both of Glendive.

Funeral services will be held at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 26, 2014,  at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to until the time of services.
