Vikings top Plains and Eureka by two baskets
Plains hung tight with Bigfork boys high school basketball for most of Saturday’s matchup in Bigfork.
Plains led the Vikings 17-15 at the end of the first quarter and the Vikes only led by one going into both the third and fourth quarters. Bigfork outscored Plains in the fourth quarter by three points to secure a four-point victory 62-58.
“I’ve got to give it to Plains,” head coach Sam Tudor said. “They played well. I also have to give it to my boys, they weren’t shaken, they just kept it up.”
Josh Sandry and Isaac Martel led the Vikings in scoring, both with 18 points. Jonathan Landon and Ryder Trent each had 10 points.
The Vikings played a similar game at Eureka on Thursday, pulling out the win 80-74.
“Eureka looked almost identical to Plains,” Tudor said. “We had our best player in their face and they were still managing to get them in there.”
Landon led the Vikes for scoring against Eureka with 20 points. Trent followed with 19.
The Vikings will face Whitefish at home on Jan. 2. Junior varsity will go at 4:30 p.m. and varsity will go at 7:30 p.m.
