Barry Lee Rowsey

Longtime Palmer, Alaska, resident Barry Lee Rowsey passed away suddenly of natural causes at work on Dec. 9, 2013. He was 57.

Barry was born May 15, 1956, in Kalispell, and raised in Swan Lake with his brother, Ron Rowsey, sister, Pamela Barrett, and younger brother, Curtis Rowsey.

After high school, Barry moved to Alaska to work on the Alaskan Pipeline.

Afterward, he lived in Anchorage and Wasilla before settling in Palmer. He was a dedicated and loved employee of AAA Moving and Storage for over 30 years.

Barry loved spending time with his family and friends. He was the best dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, co-worker, and friend anyone could ask for. He was especially fond of his grandkids and always looked forward to visiting them in Georgia and Texas. Barry’s kind heart and loving smile helped many and he always took the time to listen when someone was in need. He was the most gracious, loving man there was and he will be dearly missed.

Barry is survived by his daughter, Colleen L Crawford-Williams, and her husband, Ricky; grandchildren, Genesis, Lee and Devinn; sister, Pamela Barrett, and her husband, Jason; brothers, Curtis Rowsey, Ron Rowsey and his wife, Anna; and a nephew, Shannon Rowsey, and his wife, Nancy.

Barry was preceded in death by his father, Charles Lee Rowsey, mother, June Alice Rowsey, and sister, Penny Jo Rowsey.

A memorial was held in Anchorage on Dec. 14. It was attended by 200 of Barry’s friends and family and co-workers. It was a beautiful testament to how many lives he touched and how loved he was.

A celebration of his life is planned for the summer of 2014 in Swan Lake.
