BNSF donates to restore 'rescued' Park murals

The Hockaday Museum of Art will receive a $10,000 donation from the BNSF Railway Foundation to help pay for the restoration of 15 “rescued” Glacier National Park murals.

The murals were originally created to decorate lodges in the Park, but they were discarded when the lodges were remodeled.

Leona and Robert Brown, of West Glacier, saved the murals, which were passed down to their granddaughter Leanne Goldhahn and her husband Alan. Leanne donated the murals to the Hockaday in memory of her grandparents.

The first two fully restored murals are on permanent display at the Hockaday in the mezzanine gallery.

BNSF Railway Foundation president Zak Andersen will visit the Hockaday and present the donation in person.
