College grad

Anna Mohr, of Columbia Falls, recently graduated magna cum laude from Whitworth University, in Spokane, Wash., with a bachelor of science degree in biology.

Girls State

Monique Schoeck and Meredith Stolte, both Columbia Falls High School students, participated in the 66th annual Montana American Legion Auxiliary Girls State held at Carroll College, in Helena, on May 31 to June 5. Students got first-hand experience in how local and state governments work by campaigning for top state posititions. Schoeck was elected to be an associate justice of the Montana Supreme Court, and Stolte was elected as Superintendent of Public Instruction. After their election, the students job-shadowed Montana’s elected officials.

Honor roll

The following local students have been placed on the Honor Roll, Dean’s List and Chancellor’s Honor Roll for spring semester 2014 at Montana Tech in Butte — Cody Burghduff, Kelsey DeWit, Jennifer Kozuch, Nicholas Riley and Nathanial Thompson, who had a 4.0 GPA.
