Flathead National Park

Harvey Locke, billed as Canada’s leading conservationist, will give a talk on the proposed Flathead National Park in British Columbia during the North Fork Preservation Association’s annual meeting at Sondreson Hall on Saturday, July 26. The proposed park would be about the same size as Waterton Lakes National Park and directly north of the North Fork. A potluck dinner will start at 5 p.m. followed by Locke’s talk at 7:30 p.m. People are asked to bring a dish to share for the potluck and seating for the outdoor presentation.

Senior lunch

The North Valley Senior Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, for Heritage Days. A fundraiser lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with salads, sandwiches, pies and beverages.

Summer concerts

The Columbia Falls Lions Club summer concert series continues Thursday, July 24, at Marantette Park with the Flathead Valley Community Band and Saxophun Plus One. The concert will start at 7 p.m. Donations are $3 for an individual, $5 for families. Next week’s music will be provided by the Columbia Falls Community Choir performing at St. Richard’s Catholic Church on U.S. 2 in Columbia Falls.

Farmers market

The Columbia Falls Farmers Market will be held at Pinewood Park next to the City Pool on Thursday, July 24, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The Thursday markets host local vendors offering fresh produce, baked items, crafts, arts and various eats and treats. Tra La Gael will play traditional Irish music at next week’s market.

County fair

Those wishing to enter 4-H, FFA and Open Class livestock competitions and events at this year’s Northwest Montana Fair and Rodeo must do so by 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 1 or as indicated by the department in which they are entering. No late entries will be accepted. Entry forms are available online at www.nwmtfair.com. Competitors may also mail, fax or deliver registrations to the fairgrounds office. The theme of this year’s fair is “Stirrup Some Fun!” and runs Aug. 13-17 at the Flathead County Fairgrounds in Kalispell.
