The Glacier Twins are peaking at just the right time, knocking off rival Kalispell’s A squad three times last week to set a positive tone heading into the District Tournament this week.

The Twins’ offense erupted July 19 as they rolled over the Lakers 14-2 at Griffin Field. The Twins posted 17 hits in the impressive road victory.

They upended Kalispell again 7-4 on July 17 at Memorial Field. The Twins took the lead in the third inning. Colten Parker put down a great bunt to move Colton Gove into scoring position. Vincent Smith reached on an RBI infield single, and a Lakers throwing error put the Twins up 2-0.

The Lakers answered with three runs in the fourth, but Jayce Fagerland’s two-out RBI-single pushed the Twins back on top for good.

AJ Wetsch finished with two hits. Austin Robins fanned seven and allowed just three hits in five innings of work on the mound. Also on July 17, the Twins hammered Havre 11-1 in a blowout victory.

Earlier on July 16, the Twins rallied to take down the Lakers 14-13 at Griffin Field. The Twins scored four runs in the eighth inning to snag the one-run lead.

Smith was 4-for-4 with four RBI, hitting a double and triple in the win. Parker, Kyler Howke and Robins all earned two-hit games with one RBI.

The District Tournament will take place July 23-26 in Kalispell. The Twins open against Kootenai Valley at 10 a.m. Wednesday. If they win, they play the winner of the Missoula-Bitterroot Bucs game.

The Twins were 13-8 in conference play and in fourth place in the conference heading into the tournament. Bitterroot is the top seed at 15-5.
