Hockaday's plein air art event benefits museum
The Hockaday Museum of Art in Kalispell will hold its seventh annual Plein Air Paint Out event on June 18-20, with participating artists choosing their painting location at any public park or forest area.
Plein air is French for “in the open air” and is particularly used to describe the act of painting outdoors. Artists will create as many paintings with a “Person, Place or Thing” theme as they can — rain, shine or snow.
Completed works will be sold to benefit the museum. The public is invited to watch as paintings are created. Reservations can be made by calling 755-5268.
The Plein Air Paint Out Party & Sale will be held outside the museum in the Centennial Pavilion Tent on Saturday, June 21, from 5 to 8 p.m. Admission to the event is free, and guests may purchase art at fixed prices.
Remaining artwork will be placed on exhibit and remain for sale June 26 through July 19 at the museum, 302 Second Avenue East, in Kalispell. For more information, visit online at www.HockadayMuseum.org or call 406-755-5268.
