Xanterra update

| March 19, 2014 7:17 AM

If it seems like there’s been new activity at the long vacant Pamida & Clark Buildings on U.S. 2, it’s because Xanterra Parks and Resorts has officially closed escrow and begun construction on what will soon be their administrative offices, warehouse and laundry facility.

Construction is expected to last through the summer, with the full-time staff currently working out of temporary offices on Nucleus Avenue.

Xanterra’s new 16-year contract with Glacier National Park began on Jan. 15, leaving about four months to staff 35 full time and 600 seasonal positions before the first lodge opens in mid-May.

With the full-time roster growing each week and already filling the temporary offices, they expect fleet vehicles and seasonal employees arriving for orientation to begin using the parking lot at Pamida & Clark for overflow parking.

The lot will soon be reserved for employee and construction parking only, to handle the increased need. Once completed, the offices and warehouse will be able to support daily operations for the five lodges in the Park, as well as the food and beverage operations and Glacier Park’s iconic fleet of historic red buses.
