A Bigfork man has been sentenced to seven years in the Montana State Prison after showing a girl pornographic videos.

Kevin Dixon, 49, was sentenced Thursday in Flathead District Court by Judge Ted Lympus. Dixon had pleaded guilty by way of Alford to felony sexual abuse of children.

The Alford plea allowed him to continue to claim innocence while accepting conviction to take advantage of a plea agreement.

On Jan. 1, 2013, Dixon locked a 9-year-old girl in his home when she stopped by to give him a Christmas tree from her father before playing the pornographic video.

Before leaving the apartment, she took two pictures of the video with her iPod Touch. The pictures were later found to show a naked woman.

A court document in Dixon’s case states that he has been charged at least twice in the past for sexually assaulting minor girls — once for having sex with a 7-year-old girl when he was 17 and once for trying to have sex with a minor when he was at least 26 years old.

Dixon reportedly denied ever having been arrested for any other offenses, but a review of the county database reportedly revealed at least three arrests for felony theft.

In addition to the prison sentence, Lympus ordered Dixon to pay a $500 fine and a $400 public defender fee.

Dixon was designated a level 2 sex offender, indicating a moderate risk of committing another sex offense. He will not be eligible for parole before completing phases one and two of the state’s sex offender treatment program.

Because the victim was younger than 12 and Dixon was older than 18, he  would not be eligible for parole for at least one year and nine months, regardless of his completion of the treatment program.
