Season debut at Montana Raceway Park

Legends, Hornets, Bombers and Bandoleros made their 2014 season debut at Montana Raceway Park on May 17.

Seventeen cars competed in the Legends division with Devon Clayton topping the qualifying with a time of 14.739 seconds. Clayton finished off the evening winning by winning the main event. He leads the points standings with 64.

Larry Medhurst earned five points in the B heat race and placed second in the main event. With 57 points, Medhurst has a third-place ranking in in the standings.

Darrel Buckingham placed second in the B heat and third in the main event, earning him a total of 58 points.

The Legends has a Pro Division for experienced drivers, a Masters Division for drivers 40 and older, a Semi-Pro Division, for drivers new to the sport or who have been inactive in other forms of racing for a while, and the Young Lions Division, for the drivers 12-16 years old.

In the Bandolero division, Canada’s Tyler Emond took home the first-place trophy in the main event, won the heat race and earned a total of 66 points throughout the evening. He took the pole position with qualifying time of 15.815 seconds.

Ray Oakley, second in the point standings with 62, finished second place in the main event. He won the dash and placed second in the heat race and was second in qualifying.

Race Sasser finished third in the main event.

The Bandolero class is a turnkey, spec-series racer designed for drivers as young as 8 and the young-at-heart at any age.

Wes Miljies dominated the action in the Bombers, posting the top qualifying time of 16.564 and placing first in the heat race and main event. He was second behind Bill Warburton in the dash.

Justin Buckmiller finished second in the main event with Troy Pilgeram in third.

Katrina Knutson nearly swept the action in the Hornets. She was first in the dash, heat race and main event, but second in qualifying at 19.006. Chris Semler had the best time at 18.146. Semler was second to Knutson the dash, heat and main event.
