Grammy-award winner Dweezil Zappa, son of the late Frank Zappa, the famous iconic rocker of the 1960s and 1970s, will join artists in residence for the Crown Guitar Workshop and Festival in Bigfork this year.

The workshop offers classes in jazz, rock, blues, classical, singer/songwriter, acoustic and beginner guitar at the Flathead Lake Lodge on Aug. 24-31.

Having released 12 albums since 1986, Zappa’s predominantly rock guitar style is eclectic, like his father’s, with a mix of blues, jazz, fusion and metal.

His description as a rock torchbearer arose when his touring band “Zappa Plays Zappa” hit the road starting in 2006.

Zappa will join a platinum group of master guitarists in Bigfork including singer/songwriter John Oates, jazz guitar legend Lee Ritenour, jazz and fusion guitarist Mike Stern, Americana music singer and songwriter Shelby Lynne, blues guitarist singer/songwriter Ana Popovic, and classical guitar virtuoso David Leisner.
