Agnes Woldtvedt

Agnes Sveum Woldtvedt, 92, passed away peacefully at the Glacier Care Center in Cut Bank on Nov. 11, 2014.

Agnes was born Jan. 13, 1922, in the hospital in Sweet Grass to Peter and Thora Sveum. She graduated from North Toole County High School in Sunburst and received her teaching degree from Northern Montana College in Havre. She taught elementary classes in Turner, Cut Bank, Shelby and Kalispell.

She married Elton S. Woldtvedt on April 21, 1946. Together they raised four daughters and one son. They farmed east of Oilmont from 1946 until they retired in 1981. Their retirement years were spent traveling the U.S. by motor home during the winter and spending the summers in Montana with their families.   

Agnes enjoyed talking to people and would talk to everyone in the room before she left an event. She had a very special talent for painting and shared her many pictures with family and friends.

Agnes was preceded in death by her husband Elton, her parents, three brothers and four sisters, and a grandson Daniel Woldtvedt.

She is survived by her daughters Jane Lathrop and husband Loren, of Maine, Joan Knudson and husband Jerry, of Columbia Falls, Pam Gardipee, of Oilmont, and Carol Peterson and husband Curt, of Corvallis; son David Woldtvedt and wife Dee Atkinson, of Sweet Grass; 12 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Pettigrew and Anna Mae Woldtvedt, of Shelby; and special, lifelong friend Patti Danielson, of Shelby.

Services will be held at the Sunburst Lutheran Church in Sunburst on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 2 p.m. Whitted Funeral Home of Shelby is in charge of arrangements.
