Harold Volkman

Harold H. Volkman, 86, of Somers, died Nov. 2, 2014.

He was born July 7,1928, in a log cabin near Leroy to homesteaders John and Ada Volkman.

Harold enlisted in the Army during World War II and after serving married Virginia Miller, of Kalispell, in 1949. They had three children which he raised alone in Somers.

He made a living as a carpenter and was president of the Carpenter’s Union and a member of the American Legion.  He loved hunting, fishing, storytelling and his family.

Harold was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers and son-in-law Rod Baker.

He is survived by his children Dave Volkman and wife C’Ann, of Salt Lake City, Vic Volkman and wife Diane, of Columbia Falls, and Ada Baker, of Kalispell; seven grandsons; five granddaughters; nine great granddaughters; and nine great grandsons, with one on the way.
