Open burning allowed

Open burning will begin Oct. 1.

A burn permit is not required, but you must call air quality before you burn (751-8144).  We ask people to still be careful. We recommend around the area which you plan to burn, have a water source available and if we have a windy day, it would be best to wait. Opening burning will run through November 30, 2014.

The month of October is Fire Prevention Month. The theme for this year is “Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives.”

Bigfork Fire Department will be involved in the following activities: Oct. 8: Bigfork Fire Station Ice Cream Social, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Bring the kids! Pick up a smoke detector and tour the station and apparatus

Oct. 9, Swan River School, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Oct. 10, Bigfork Elementary School, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Bigfork Fire Department would like to thank the community for your support of our 9/11 stand. We received $718 in donations and this money has been given to support the “National Fallen Firefighters Foundation”.

Bigfork Fire Department responded to (59) incidents as of Sept. 26: Building fire (2), Passenger vehicle fire (1), Forest, woods or wild land fire (1), Land Medical Helicopter (2), Emergency medical service (2), EMS call, excluding vehicle accident with injury (34), Vehicle accident with injuries (4), Motor vehicle accident with no injuries (2), Swimming recreational water areas rescue (1), Gasoline or flammable liquid spill (1), Gas leak (natural gas or LPG) (1), Public service (1), Unauthorized burning (2), Dispatched and canceled  (1), EMS call, party transported by non-fire agency (1), Detector activation, no fire (2).
