Cross country runners head to Helena meet

Bigfork Crosscountry competed in Hamilton over the weekend.

Once again eighth grader Anya Young won the middle school race, with a time of 9:50.

Xaioxaio Strong led the Bigfork junior varsity girls at 21:44.7 and Cody Johnson led the Bigfork boys at 18:26.

Makena, Bryn and Logan Morley did not race at the meet.

The high school team will travel to Helena on Thursday for the 7 on 7 meet. Seven different races are run at the meet by rank. Each school decides the ranks of their runner, and one boy and one girl compete in each race. The idea is to have each school’s fastest runner compete against each other. The meet allows some runners who don’t normally win to have a chance to cross the finish line first since they are competing with racers close to their same skill level.
