Vikings continue winning streak
The Bigfork Vikings trumped Troy Friday 42-13 on the road.
Matthew Farrier scored the first six points for Bigfork with a three yard run in the first quarter.
With less than a minute in the second quarter Logan Mejak and Grant Ozegovich took down Troy’s Pate Scott for a safety.
Then in the second quarter, the Vikings really took off.
“It was absolutely amazing to watch them play in the second quarter,” head coach Todd Emslie said.
Vinny Quirk had two touchdown runs at the top of the quarter to bring Bigfork’s lead to 22-0. Then Josh Sandry threw a touchdown pass to Jon Landon to make the score 29-0, before Troy’s Pate Scott ran 63 yards for the first of Troy’s two touchdowns.
Sandry hit Landon again with another touchdown pass, followed by another to Isaac Martel, ending the first half of the game with a 42-6 point lead.
Neither team scored in the third quarter. Troy’s Dillon Savage completed a pass to Austin Waldron late in the fourth quarter to make the final score 42-13.
“I truly believe every week we’re getting a little better, which is exactly what we want,” Emslie said.
Emslie hopes to win the last three regular season games, which would likely put Bigfork up against the second place team in the 6B district to start the playoffs.
Bigfork hosts Plains on Friday at 7 p.m. There are only about 20 players out for the Plains football team.
