Symphony and Chorale will keep audiences spellbound

| October 15, 2014 9:54 AM

Glacier Symphony and Chorale opens its 32nd concert season Oct. 11-12 with “Spellbound,” combining popular movie themes with the classical masterpiece “Symphonie Fantastique.”

The “Spellbound” concert will open with John Williams’ “Flight to Neverland” from the 1991 motion picture Hook. Next up will be a thrilling musical adventure featuring guest soloist Simone Porter, a young American violin virtuoso, in a performance of the “Violin Concerto in D minor,” by Nicolo Paganini. The finale will be Hector Berlioz’ iconic “Symphonie Fantastique,” a work of orchestral music so startling in concept that to this day it continues to inspire and capture the imagination.

The concerts will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 11 and 3 p.m. on Oct. 12 at Flathead High Performance Hall in Kalispell. Tickets are available in a range of reserved seating tiers from $15-32 for adults and seniors. All youth through grade 12 are admitted free, but an adult must accompany youngsters in middle school and below and all youth must reserve a seat. Tickets can be purchased online at www.gscmusic.org or at the GSC Box Office, 407-7000 or in person at 69 N. Main St. Kalispell.
