Bigfork came back to win an exciting third set against Loyola Sacred Heart on Thursday, before ultimately losing the game 3-1. Another loss to Stillwater Christian on Saturday made for a winless week for the Valkyries.

Bigfork continued their trend of starting slow against Loyola, losing the first two sets 25-18 and 25-13, but their energy turned in the third set when Lana Berg nailed a block for a point.

“It was like they woke up,” head coach Melody Strauss said.

The Vals won the third set 22-25 and looked poised to rally and come back from behind for a game win.

The fourth set was close until the very end when Loyola surged ahead to secure the win.

Bigfork started off in a similar fashion against Stillwater, losing the first two sets 25-18 and 25-13, but were unable to come back and win a set.

“We struggled with our serve receive,” Strauss said.

The Valkyries played Glacier’s junior varsity at home on Tuesday, will travel to St. Ignatius to play Mission on Thursday and will play at home on Saturday against Thompson Falls for senior night. Saturday’s varsity match starts at 1 p.m.
