More Jerrys needed
Any candidate hiding behind a scathing commentary like that leveled at popular Rep. Jerry O’Neil certainly idenifies himself as one who would do or say anything to promote his own candidacy.
Zac Perry, by demonstrating his willingness to permit malicious hearsay spread to further the interests of his own campaign, has forever stamped himself as untrustworthy and less than up-front with voters.
If Rep. O’Neil is to be faulted, it is because he has demonstrated courage in tackling tough issues and standing up for the constitutional rights of his constituents. In so doing, he has often rattled strongholds and what has become known to many as the “good old boy’s domains.”
Since when has support for our U.S. Constitution and upholding of the sovereignty of our great state and nation become something of which to be ashamed?
Jerry O’Neil has faithfully lived up to the oath we all took when being sworn in to office. He has never been intimidated by administrative rules, and his diligent study has often led to questioning of the status quo, which alerted fellow legislators that appropriate action should be taken.
A successful campaign for the legislature does not make a golden orator, a master of sound bites or even a bold lobbyist. In a citizen legislature such as ours, however, we each bring individual strengths, priorities and even agendas in some cases.
Far above all else to be treasured and respected is honesty and integrity. Those two qualities , so typical of Jerry’s legislative career, to my knowledge, have never been challenged by his colleagues.
Jerry’s votes have consistently reflected the interests of Northwest Montana citizens and the taxpayers in Flathead County. Voters should ask themselves, what alternative agenda could be driving the challenger for this House District 3 seat?
