Spikers nab conference title
The Columbia Falls volleyball team dropped two conference foes last week. They beat Libby on Oct. 16 in four games, 18-25, 25-23, 25-14 and 25-17 and blanked Frenchtown two days later, 25-18, 25-20 and 25-16. Both games were on the road.
The Wildkats are now 10-1 overall and 6-0 in conference with two conference matches left to wrap up the regular season — one against Polson at home Thursday and another against Whitefish at home Nov. 1.
The Kats have already secured the regular season Northwest Class A divisional title, which gives them top seeding in the divisional tournament.
Against Libby, the Kats were led by seniors Ciera Finberg and Carla Nicosia with 10 kills apiece. Winter Kemppainen had eight blocks.
Against Frenchtown, Kemppainen and Burlage led the team in kills with 10 apiece.
The Polson varsity game should start about 7:15 p.m.
