Mundel takes 3rd at Libby Invite
Wildkat harrier Samantha Mundel took third place at the Libby Invitational cross-country meet on Saturday, Aug. 30.
Mundel finished the race in 18:43.72. Her time was a personal best and beat her school record by eight seconds.
As a team, Columbia Falls placed seven girls in the top 35 in a meet that featured six teams, including two from Idaho and the Glacier High School varsity. The Kats finished in fourth as a team, ahead of Whitefish and Libby.
“From top to bottom, everyone who ran at this course last year ran faster this year,” Columbia Falls coach Richard Menicke said of his girls. “That’s very encouraging.”
Winfield West was the top runner for the Columbia Falls boys team, finishing in 18:45.93. The Cats placed five runners in the top 36 and finished in fifth place.
