Logan Morley and Bryn Morley took home first place titles for Bigfork Friday at the Mike Reynolds Time Trials in Cut Bank.

The meet was the first of the season for Bigfork Cross Country and head coach Sue Loeffler already saw improvement from her high school runners and her middle school runners.

Both Morleys crushed the competition. Logan finished almost 30 seconds ahead of the second place finisher and Bryn finished nearly two minutes faster than any other high school girls.

Cody Johnson ran a new personal best, topping his previous time from last year’s state meet.

And two middle school siblings came out on top of their competition. Eighth grader Anya Young took first and her younger brother Anton took second.

The Bigfork middle school cross-country runners train with the high school team.

Senior running star Makena Morley did not compete in the meet, and will only run in the Mountain West meet, 7 on 7 and state meet. The oldest Morley is focused on training for the Footlocker Cross Country Championship, which serves to find the best high school cross-country runners in the country. Makena has qualified for the race all three years of her high school career, and placed well.

Bigfork cross-country will race in Kalispell on Saturday at Rebecca Farm. Loeffler said athletes from Glacier High School will also compete in the race, and offer some competition for Logan and Bryn.
