Freshman Hannah Gedlaman made her mark early on the girls soccer season, scoring twice against Belgrade in a 3-2 win away on Sept. 5.

“We knew in practice she was a good player,” coach Greg Trenerry said.

Gedlaman came off the bench to score her first goal in the first half. Senior Lindsay Strouse added another goal to put the Kats up 2-1 at the break.

Gedlaman then added another goal in the second half, and the Kats held off the Panthers for the win.

Trenerry said all three of the Kats’ goals were textbook soccer — winger Ellie Johnson had three assists.

The next day the Kats played Park County High School in Livingston to a 0-0 draw.

“The second game we needed to spread out,” Trenerry said.

The battle against Eastern Montana teams continues this week as the Kats host Billings Central on Friday at 4 p.m. and then Laurel at 10 a.m. the next morning.

“We have a tough schedule,” Trenerry said.

Central hasn’t lost a game in a long time, so knocking them off would be especially rewarding.
