Bigfork prepares for big meet this week in Missoula
Bryn Morley and Logan Morley both ran away with first-place titles Saturday at the Flathead Invitational at Rebecca Farm in Kalispell.
Bryn Morley clocked a time of 17:11.8 for a new personal best. Logan Morley took first in 15:37.3, pushing past Missoula Sentinel’s Marshall Beatty and crossing the finish line a second sooner.
Last year Logan didn’t race well at the Flathead Invitational, head coach Sue Loeffler said, making this year’s win more impressive.
“He really shined,” she said. “I was really impressed with him this year.”
The middle school girls placed second as a team, losing to a Missoula school who had 20 runners.
Bigfork Cross Country will travel to Missoula Saturday for the Mountain West Classic, which draws teams from all over Montana and some from Washington and Idaho.
Makena Morley will make her first appearance of the season at Mountain West, which she has won the last three years. Last year she won with a time of 16:43.42.
Only the Morley siblings will compete as varsity at the meet; all of the other high school runners will be junior varsity.
