Vals play on home court twice this week
After a hard fought four sets, the Valkyries fell to Thompson Falls on the road Saturday.
Bigfork’s first blow came in the first set, which they won, but where Abbie Fraley came down wrong on her ankle after a block, taking her out for the rest of the match.
Despite Fraley’s absence on the court the Vals kept the third and fourth sets close, just falling short, 25-22 and 27-25.
“The girls battled really hard,” head coach Melody Strauss said.
Bigfork had 12 blocks to Thompson Falls’ seven, with five from Miranda Campbell. Marissa Hiza had 12 of Bigfork’s 27 kills and Lana Berg contributed 16 digs out of 54.
Bigfork is 3-3 overall and 1-1 in league play.
They host Mission on Thursday during homecoming week. The first game will begin at 4 p.m. The Vals faced Mission briefly at a starter tournament at the beginning of the season, and played well against them.
“As long as we start strong I think we’ll end the evening pretty well against them,” Strauss said. “We’re hoping there’s a good showing in the crowd as well.”
The Vals will be back on their home court again at 1 p.m. on Saturday to play Troy.
