Motorcycle wreck
I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped out following a motorcycle accident on Saturday, Sept. 20, in front of the Super 1 Foods grocery store in Columbia Falls.
My friends from Calgary, April and Terry, and I were riding our motorcycles through town to have dinner at the Nite Owl. We stopped at a red light and, unfortunately, April was struck from behind by a pickup driven by a man who had been drinking.
Immediately people came to the rescue, stopping traffic and assisting April and her dog Roscoe (who was riding behind her in a dog carrier). Many people surrounded both April and Roscoe, giving them loving care as we waited for help to arrive.
Thanks also, to the Columbia Falls police and fire department and Three Rivers EMS, who were all so quick to respond — you did a great job.
I would also like to say thanks to two employees at Auto Zone, Kim and Shay — they are both EMT trained, and they rushed over right away to help April. And thank you to everyone who helped. I am so proud of Columbia Falls. We are not just a city or community —we are family.
April was seriously injured and she spent five days in the intensive care unit at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. Eight days later, she was released from the hospital, and we thank everyone at KRMC for the excellent, loving and compassionate care that she received.
April is still getting better, but we hope and pray for a full recovery. Thanks too, for your prayers. And we thank God, in Jesus’ name, for His healing touch.
By the way, April’s dog Roscoe was taken to Central Valley Animal Hospital and was released two days later. He should be fine.
Oh, and one more thing — if you drink, please do not drive. I’ve had far too many friends injured by drunk drivers. Thank you.
