Suspect campaign financing
As I observe the process of this year’s political candidacy, both locally and nationally, it is very evident which candidates have the large amounts of mystery money behind them.
You cannot watch television, open the mail box or drive through town without seeing the huge amount of money poured into some candidates’ coffers.
Other struggling candidates — Stacy Schnebel for Flathead County Commissioner, Amanda Curtis for U.S. Senate and Ed Lieser for Montana House District 5 — obviously are depending on local donations.
This is a disappointing, discrepant change in the politics of our democracy when great wealth can be the principal driver behind the aspirations of certain Montana candidates.
My question is, who will determine Montana’s future, Montanans or mystery wealth?
