Flathead Lacrosse goes 2-1 on the week
Columbia Falls High School sophomore goalie Brian Voustinas was a force in the cage last week, leading the Flathead Lacrosse team to a 2-1 record.
In his first game as a varsity starter on Thursday, April 9, Voustinas allowed only four goals, and the team defeated local rivals Polson TenSticks 9-4. On Saturday, April 11, Flathead Lacrosse could not overcome a 5-0 run by Bozeman and lost 9-4.
The team rallied in its home opener on Sunday, April 12, against Missoula’s Big Sky High School. Columbia Falls senior Henry Chisholm tallied a hat trick and added two assists in an 18-4 rout.
Voustinas was again key in the contest, stopping several early shots as the Flathead club built its lead. Columbia Falls’ Connor Bowman and Grant Wallace bolstered a tough Flathead defense that held Big Sky scoreless in the first half of the game, while the Flathead offense went on a 10-0 spree.
The junior varsity team traveled to Helena on Saturday and dropped its game to the Helena High School Huskies 9-4.
The varsity team enters its bye week and will be back in action Saturday, April 25, taking on defending state champion Hellgate in Missoula.
