Valkyries beat Loyola, Vikes host flight tournament
Bigfork hosted Libby, Mission and Troy at their Flight Tournament on Saturday. Because numerous players were gone at other activities and players were switching from singles to double the tournament wasn’t officially scored, and the tournament was considered and exhibition.
For the boys at number one singles Isaac Martel beat Dominic Chiaverini from Troy and lost to Andrew Esslinger from Mission and Libby’s Walter Briones
In number two singles Alex Buenz beat Dominik Stallings from Mission and Libby’s Kody Bailey and lost to Ben Haggerty from Troy.
The number one doubles team of George Gibson and Ben Russell beat Troy’s Craig Helmrick and CJ Beard and Libby’s Jason Brant and Gabe Peck. They lost to Mission’s Jamie Mullins and Steven Bravo.
Bigfork’s number two doubles team of Mack Paine and Gus DiPaulo lost to Libby’s Jhamaal Skyes and Ramond Sadewasser, Mission’s Liam Yelsa and Warren Castor and Troy’s Alex Day and Brennan Olds.
There were no results for the girls matches, though coach Mike Bonner said the girls performed really well.
On Thursday Bigfork and Missoula Loyola split a tennis dual at Playfair Park.
The Bigfork girls won at No. 2-3 singles and took both doubles matches for a 4-2 win.
Loyola swept the Bigfork boys, 6-0.
Tuesday Bigfork hosted Whitefish. On Saturday they will play in a tournament in Libby.
