Bigfork High School track and field had a busy week.

The Valkyries placed third at the Whitefish meet on Saturday. Freshman Bryn Morley set a new meet record, and top state time in the 800-meter run.

In 2005, Bigfork’s Brooke Andrus claimed the top 800-meter mark in meet history, finishing in 2:19.56.

Morley and Hill beat Andrus’ time by eight seconds. Morley also placed first in the 400, while her older sister Makena Morley won the 1,600 and brother Logan Morley took the boys’ 800-meter title.

The Morley sisters, along with Mattison McAnnally and Hallie Norred, won the 1,600 meter relay to help seal the Vals’ third place position.

The Vikings took second at the meet behind Glacier High School. Tyler Piazzola placed second in triple jump, and fourth in javelin. Carson Cantrell placed third in the 300 hurdles and sixth in the 110 hurdles. Josh Sandry placed third in the high jump, fourth in the 100 meter dash and fifth in the 200.

Several Bigfork athletes also placed on Thursday in a number of field events at the Glacier Quadrangular.

Marissa Hiza won the high jump, followed by Celeste Rehbein, who took fourth in the event.

Miranda Campbell won the discus, and placed fourth in the shot put. Riley Coleman was second in shot put and fifth in the discus.

The boys also fared well at the meet.

Sandry threw the javelin 169-7 to set a state-qualifying mark and post the third best throw in Class B this season.

Cantrell cleared 12 feet in the pole vault to also guarantee a spot at state.

Both boys 400 meter and 1,600 meter relay teams placed first. Iverson and Ross Coleman took second and third in the discus.

Last Tuesday some Bigfork athletes also made showings at the Russ Pilcher Top 10 meet in Missoula.

Bryn Morley won the 800 and Logan Morley won the boys 3,200-meter run in 9:34.74.

Freshman Norred placed third in the 200 meter dash and sixth in the 100. Sandry cleared 6-3 in the high jump for second place.

Bigfork will travel to Kalispell on Saturday for the Archie Roe track meet.
